This Cookie Policy explains how Bed N Beds uses cookies and similar technologies on bednbeds.com, what each one does and how you can control them. We keep the number of cookies low, we set optional cookies only with your consent, and you can change your mind at any time. This policy should be read together with our Privacy Policy.
1. What Cookies Are
Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser when you visit. They allow the site to remember information between pages or visits, such as whether you are logged in, what is in your cart or which cookie choices you have made. Cookies set by the website you are visiting are called first-party cookies; cookies set by other domains are called third-party cookies. Some cookies are deleted when you close your browser (session cookies), while others remain until they expire or you delete them (persistent cookies).
Websites can also use similar technologies, such as your browser’s localStorage, which stores information on your device. We explain our use of localStorage in Section 5.
2. How We Use Cookies
Our website runs on WordPress, with WooCommerce for our services shop, Wordfence for security and CookieYes for cookie consent. These tools set a small number of cookies that are needed for the site to work securely and for features such as login and checkout. We do not use cookies to sell your personal information.
When you first visit, a cookie banner lets you accept all cookies, reject optional cookies or choose by category. Strictly necessary cookies are always active because the website cannot function properly without them. All other categories remain off until you allow them.
3. Cookie Categories
Our consent banner groups cookies into the following categories:
- Necessary: essential for the website to work, such as keeping you logged in, keeping your cart and checkout secure, protecting the site from attacks and remembering your consent choices. These cannot be switched off in our banner.
- Functional: help us provide enhanced features and remember your preferences, such as display settings for logged-in users.
- Analytics: help us understand how visitors use the website, such as which pages are visited most, so we can improve it. Where used, these are set only with your consent.
- Performance: help us measure and improve the technical performance of the website, such as page load times. Where used, these are set only with your consent.
- Advertisement: used to show relevant advertising and measure campaigns. We do not currently intentionally set advertisement cookies. The category exists in our banner so that, if we add any in the future, they stay off unless you allow them.
The cookie banner and its “Customise” panel show the cookies currently detected in each category. If we add new optional cookies, we will update this policy and, where required, ask for your consent again.
4. Cookies We Use
The table below lists the typical cookies used on our website. Some names include a unique code (shown as [hash] or [user_id]) that differs from visitor to visitor. Several of these cookies are set only when you log in or add a service to your cart.
| Cookie | Provider | Category | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| wordpress_logged_in_[hash] | WordPress | Necessary | Remembers that you are logged in and identifies your account while you use the site. | Session, or up to 14 days if you choose “Remember me” |
| wordpress_sec_[hash] | WordPress | Necessary | Stores secure authentication details for logged-in users. | Session, or up to 14 days if you choose “Remember me” |
| wordpress_test_cookie | WordPress | Necessary | Checks whether your browser accepts cookies so that login can work. | Session |
| wp-settings-[user_id] and wp-settings-time-[user_id] | WordPress | Functional | Remembers interface and display preferences for logged-in users, such as the account or dashboard layout. | 1 year |
| woocommerce_cart_hash | WooCommerce | Necessary | Helps WooCommerce detect when the contents of your cart change. | Session |
| woocommerce_items_in_cart | WooCommerce | Necessary | Records whether there are items in your cart so that the correct page content is shown. | Session |
| wp_woocommerce_session_[hash] | WooCommerce | Necessary | Holds a unique code for your session so that your cart and checkout details are kept as you move between pages. | 2 days |
| cookieyes-consent | CookieYes | Necessary | Stores your cookie consent choices so that the banner does not reappear on every page and your choices are respected. | 1 year |
| wfwaf-authcookie-[hash] | Wordfence | Necessary | Used by the Wordfence firewall to recognise logged-in users and their access level, so that legitimate requests are not mistakenly blocked. | 12 hours |
Durations are typical values set by each tool and may change when the tools are updated. You can view the cookies stored for our site at any time through your browser’s settings or developer tools.
5. Browser localStorage
To make browsing homes easier without requiring an account, our website uses your browser’s localStorage to remember a few things on your device:
| Key | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| bnb_favorites | Stores the homes you have saved as favourites. | Until you remove them or clear your browser data |
| bnb_compare | Stores the homes you have added to your comparison list. | Until you remove them or clear your browser data |
| bnb_recent | Remembers homes you have recently viewed so you can find them again. | Until you clear your browser data |
This information stays in your browser. It is not sent to our servers, it is not used for advertising or tracking, and we cannot see it. Because it lives only on your device, your favourites and compare list will not appear on another browser or device, and they will be lost if you clear your browser data or use a private browsing window.
6. Third-Party Content: Maps
Listing pages can show a map of the approximate location. To protect your privacy, the map is not loaded automatically. Map tiles from OpenStreetMap are requested only after you click “Show map”. At that point, your browser connects directly to OpenStreetMap tile servers, which receive your IP address and standard browser information in order to deliver the map images. We do not set cookies for this feature. OpenStreetMap processes this data under its own privacy policy.
7. Managing Your Consent
You can change or withdraw your consent at any time. Click the “Cookie settings” link in the footer of any page to reopen the cookie banner. From there you can accept or reject all optional cookies or switch individual categories on or off. Your new choice is saved in the cookieyes-consent cookie and applies from that point on. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of anything that happened before you withdrew it.
Where required by law, we treat a Global Privacy Control signal sent by your browser as a request to opt out of optional cookies that could be considered a sale or sharing of personal information.
8. Browser Controls
Most browsers let you view, block and delete cookies and site data. You can usually find these options in your browser’s settings under “Privacy”, “Security” or “Site data”. You can also set your browser to block third-party cookies, block all cookies or notify you when a cookie is set. Helpful starting points include the help pages for Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge, and the settings menus of mobile browsers.
Please note that blocking strictly necessary cookies may prevent parts of our website from working, including login, the shopping cart and checkout. Deleting site data will also remove your favourites, compare list and recently viewed homes.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy when we change the tools we use or when the law changes. The “Last updated” date at the top shows when it was last revised. Where changes affect optional cookies, we will ask for your consent again where required.
10. Contact Us
If you have questions about our use of cookies, please contact Bed N Beds, Dubai, United Arab Emirates, at [email protected] or +971 55 555 5555, or use our contact form.
